Melbourne listeners may think of Jacinta Parsons like an awesome extended family member. A stable for ABC radio Melbourne for many years, nationally and internationally she has written books (Unseen and A Question of Age) and worked in television and podcasts.

Jacinta Parsons is not just a prolific voice in the Australian media, but also an important intersectional advocate, MC and speaker. Way back when she started in community radio in Melbourne, and these days she’s teaching at RMIT while still creating, contributing and studying herself.

We are so thrilled to have her with us and to just generally bathe in her awesomeness, welcome to Music Mothers and Others, Jacinta!

Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich Music Mothers and Others

Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich is a musician, music industry member and author of the excellent new book It’s Not For You: Inside the artists rewriting the rules of the Australian music scene. With interviews from the who you already know, and who you really SHOULD know of Australian music, the book showcases the stories, sounds and perspectives that are not as often considered in the Oz Music sphere. Also a mum and member of the broader village, with us she talks about raising kids, breaking down gates and what it might be like if we all thought outside the box a bit more. Currently on break as a musician (her band Camp Cope said goodbye a while back), we also talk about what the next steps might be. We are so excited to have you with Kelly – you can hear the ep below and read more of her chat with Liz at TheMusic.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
